On the driving test the examiner will say, 'follow the road unless I direct you otherwise'.

It is looking at the sign with the diagram early and getting into the correct lane.

I tend to say on this occasion to take the 3rd exit following the road ahead.

A customer said that it would be easier for me to say 'follow the road ahead'.

If you follow the red arrows and signal after you pass the last exit before the one you want then you will be fine.
