Parallel Park
Parallel / Reverse Park
There are many ways to do the Parallel or Reverse Park.
This is a front view of a parallel park:
The key is to check over your right blind spot to make sure that before the front of the car swings out to the right that you are not going to hit anything coming from your right.
As with all manoeuvres keep the car slow and the head busy, looking around.
We need to be 1 metre or one car doors width away from the parked car.
We are trying to develop driver sense where the driver can get the car in without 'steps', so the steps are to develop driver sense.
When the car is level (and 1 metre away from the parked car) turn the steering wheel 360 degrees (one whole revolution) to the left.
When your eye is level with your left mirror and the middle of the parked car
then straighten up with turning the wheel 360 degrees (one whole revolution) to the right.
When your eye is level with the left mirror and the driver rear corner of the car turn the wheel 360 degrees (one whole revolution) to the right.
When you are 95% straight, with the kerb turn the wheel 360 degrees (one whole revolution) to the left to get the wheels straight.
Consider getting a blind spot mirror so that you can see where the kerb is.
