Pull Push technique
Steering
The pull push method of steering is only used in the UK.
This is a clip of the pull push steering technique:
When I started as an instructor in 2004 it was only used in the UK and Australia, now it is only used in the UK.
Draw an imaginary line in the centre of the steering wheel separating left from right.
The right hand does not cross to the left side and the left hand does not cross to the right side.
The guidelines used to be strict on the practical driving test on this but as airbags have got more reliable over the years they are not as strict.
The left and right hands go up and down together, it is just that whilst one hand grips the other is loose.
